How to use an auto touch up paint pen to achieve top notch results

Selecting a pen tip for auto touch up paint work is critical. We recommend tips in acrylic or polyester because they work wellwith enamel or lacquer solutions. Polyester tips will be particularly convenient if you work with waterborne or alcohol-based solutions. On the other hand, Acrylic is more appropriate for solvents, although they can also work well with water and alcohol products.

Your auto touch up paint job will be facilitated if you use other appropriate products. A fiberglass rust brush will help remove rust beforepainting. Also, a final finish system will level chip repairs, even on the original paint surface.

Let's see how we should use the auto touch up paint pen. First, before you add paint into the pen, you should drop the steel mixing ball into it.Then, mix the paint and the thinner into a cup and properly thin the paint. To determine the right consistency do a test with a brush. Onceyou are happy with the mix pour the paint solution into the pen. Make sure the tube is not filled 100%, to allow the mixing ball to move and dothe right mixing job. If you use the pen already filled with thinned paint, shake the tube for 30 to 60 seconds to properly mix the solutionbefore usage.

Insert the pen tip into the valve assembly and place a cap over the tip and valve assembly. Insert the valve assembly into the aluminum tube and gently tap downward until the shoulder of the valve seats against the rim of the tube. If necessary, a rubber mallet may be used. Make sure you hold the pen upright and you depress the tip to release air pressure, when required. Then you need to get the valve working. Just hold the pen at angle and depress the tip on a hard surface. The solution will thenreach the tip and you are ready to go !!

Once your great auto touch up paint job is complete (and what great work it was !!) make sure to store the pen in an appropriate way.Use the cap as an airtight seal by gently twisting it over the valve assembly.
