Car alarm review : learn about the key features of a good security system

This car alarm review emphasizes the importance of a good security system as an important feature to improve your car protection and keep your insurance costs down.

Most people feel secure because they have remote keyless entry transmitters and an "anti-theft" starter kill which helps prevent a thief from hot-wiring the vehicle. Well, not so ! Do the following test : first leave the window open and lock the doors with the remote. Then reach in and unlock the door. What happened ? Nothing, no honking, no siren, ............... low security !!! If this is your situation do not worry, you have already two great security features that most people don't have. You now need to do a better car alarm review.

An effective car alarm system uses a horn or siren to alert you when someone has forced entry into your vehicle without your permission. It will trigger if a door opens while the system is armed, and its shock sensor will detect a sharp impact such as breaking a window. Optional sensors and additional sirens (especially backup battery sirens) can add to your security. In addition, the LED on your dash and the stickers on your windows will let a thief know that he may be better off picking on someone else.

Here are important features to consider in you car alarm review :

Do you want your parking lights to flash when you arm and disarm your car alarm ?

Do you want the car alarm to sound when someone only opens a door?

Say a stereo thief just breaks your window and crawls through it. To protect against this you must have either a Glass breakage sensor and/or a shock sensor.

What if the thief is smart enough to ground out your parking lights, which is possible, blowing the fuses and frying your alarm brain. To keep this from happening you need your parking lights fused.

What if for some reason the thief gets your hood up and cuts the positive battery cable. There is a fix to this one, a back up battery siren.

A hood pin switch is a good idea also so that your alarm will go once your hood is lifted.

A trunk pin switch is great idea also if your sub-woofers are in the truck.

Interior proximity sensor : exactly what it sounds like it protects the inside of your car from anything moving inside.

Exterior proximity sensor : protects your car from anyone getting too close.

Tilt sensor: detects a difference in the level of your vehicle. Like if someone gets into the back of a truck to steal tools or a tool box it will make the alarm go off.

Keyless Entry : locks or unlocks your doors with the push of a button.

Remote Power Windows : roll up your windows when you arm your system, or control them from your transmitter.

Ouf !! You probably do not need all of these car alarm review features but this list will hopefully help you make the right decisions.
