Speakers are an important upgrade of the audio system. So how to choose the right speaker ? By making sure each important feature is covered. First, in our speaker review, let's discuss sound quality. This is a very much a question of opinion ....... and of personal feeling. Bottom line ? Do a "road test" and listen to different speakers ..... in the car, nowhere else. And certainly not in a room in your house, because the sound will likely be much different. Next, let's talk about power handling. Look at the continuous power rating (or the normal rating). Don't be diverted by peak power handling because this is a measure of how much the speakers can handle for short periods of time. Also, make sure the power of the subwoofers matches the amplifiers. The third feature to consider in our car speaker review is sensitivity. This is a measure of the loudness of the speaker at a given input power. The standard level is roughly 90dB/Wm. If you need high sensitivity then you need high power to attain the desired volume.
The material composition is also crucial to address in this car speaker review. Though most speakers are made of paper you will benefit by upgrading to more durable materials such as ceramic or titanium for a longer and better sounding life.
What about physical size ? Will new speakers fit into your present housings or will you need new ones ? Make sure you figure this out before making your buying decision.
This completes our car speaker review. Bear in mind that speakers are part of an integrated
audio system. So, it is a good idea to review all the components of your system while looking
to upgrade the speakers.
