How to install a car spoiler kit
Yes ! You can install a car spoiler kit yourself. Let's guide you through the
simple step-by-step do-it-yourself process to achieve that performance look
you have been dreaming of.
First, make sure rubber gaskets are installed on the bottom each pedestal. If not,
install them.
Next, open the trunk lid and cover the rear windshield and the trunk area with a
sheet to protect it from metal pieces and shavings falling during the installation
of the the car spoiler kit.
Place the drill guides into the mounting holes of the spoiler and lightly tape them
down with small pieces of masking tape to hold them in place. We like to use a non-residue
tape such as the Tesa brand.
The next step in the installation of the car spoiler kit consists in placing the spoiler
on the deck lid. To do so, partially close the deck lid and align the spoiler
to proper position using the measuring tape. Once it is in position secure the drill guides
with masking tape (this time use a wider tape to help ensure the guides will not move when
the spoiler is lifted).
Lift the spoiler straight up to avoid the guides from moving. Insert a 1/16" drill bit into
the guides to mark the paint surface of the deck lid. Remove the guides and then use a 1/8"
drill bit to drill holes where you marked the surface making sure to drill through the second
layer, if there is one.
The installation of the car spoiler kit is almost done ! Open the holes on the surface of the
deck lid to accomodate the screws provided. Place the spoiler on the trunk lid and carefully
install the screws with a hand tool.
Remove the sheet, close the trunk and carefully clean the area of any metal residues.
Here you go !! What a great look !! And you have spared the installation cost !!
