Clifford car alarm : a survey of reports from consumers

We have surveyed reviews from individual consumers on the Clifford car alarm products.

Product surveys and studies from major marketing consulting firms are good. Reviews "straight from the horses mouth" are also valuable in that they are provided with complete independance.

We have checked the reviews posted on a variety of different web sites and discussion groups from consumers who bought and used one of the Clifford models.

Let's first look at Clifford Concept 100.

The following strenghts are reported :

¤ Protects all the doors, the boot, bonnet and glove box with sensors

¤ While active, the alarm immobolises the ignition and the fuel pump preventing the engine from being hotwired. In addition a back-up battery keeps the alarm active even if wires are cut

¤ The Clifford car alarm Concept 100 includes several interesting features : a flashing led to warn people that you have an alarm, a little keypad that allows you to change the options of the alarm, and also to enter valet mode.

¤ It includes a microwave sensor option allowing the vehicle owner to park with roof off and windows down without worrying, because if anyone puts their hand in the vehicle, the alarm is triggered.

The next Clifford car alarm model we have checked reports on is the Concept 40 (generation prior to the Concept 400).

The following advantages are reported :

¤ Comes with a Dual zone Proximity feature - inside and outside protection of intruders. The alarm has a 5 tone warn away, then if the intruder sticks around the alarm sounds.

¤ The sensitivity of the Dual zone proximity can be programmed with the touch of a button on the remote.

¤ The Clifford car alarm Concept 40 Includes a shock sensor option to protect against window breakage. To unlock the doors you the remote must be used, the key being useless for added security.

These disadvantages were mentionned :

¤ Cost on the high end

¤ Difficult to install, there is a lot of wiring that the self-installer would probably be confused with.

Last on our review list is the Clifford car alarm Intelliguard 700-IQ and 800-IQ.

This model meets all of the following criterias :

¤ Keyless entry
¤ Motion sensitive
¤ Dual zone
¤ Opens the garage door
¤ Warning Flashing red light
¤ Auto code switching to prevent the code from being stolen
¤ Remote headlight activation
¤ Simple to use; no technical complexities

Geez !! That's one heck of a shopping list !!

On the other hand the following weaknesses were reported on the Clifford car alarm 700-IQ and 800-IQ series :

¤ Alarm is not loud enough
¤ Motion is only detected around the cockpit and truck area. The motion sensor gets blocked by the dash and fire wall.

If you are looking at the Clifford car alarm products, the above will certainly give a head start in your evaluation process. In general, we have found reports on the Clifford models very positive and this company seems to make quality products.
