How to install a
custom car graphic kit

Bought a custom car graphic or looking to do so ? Anxious to give your vehicle that special look ?

The installation of a car graphic kit is really a snap if you follow the right steps. Let's guide you through the process to achieve a professional result.

It is important that the installation be performed in a garage, if at all possible. Protection against wind, dust and excessive temperatures will make your life easier.

The surface on which you will stick the custom car graphic must be free of any contaminants. The best way to do so is to use a solvent wax and tar remover and then wipe over with rubbing alcohol with a clean lint free cloth.

First prepare a solution which will help facilitate the application of the graphic. In a spray bottle full of water, add a touch (just a tiny bit !!) of liquid hand soap and 5 ml of rubbing alcohol. then get yourself a good squeegee.

Next, mark the location of your custom car graphic with residue-free tape (such as Tesa masking tape). Position the graphic and hold it in place with the same tape. Then gently peel away one half of the release liner.

The next step is to wet the vehicle surface and the adhesive side of the graphic, using the application solution you just prepared. This will allow you enough time to position the graphic before the adhesive dries out too quickly.

OK, we are doing well here !! Now, position the custom car graphic and squeegee out the solution out from under, starting from the center. Repeat the process until the air and water bubbles are removed, then do the other half of the graphic.

We are now down to the transfer tape. Slowly remove it back on itself. If the graphic does not stick, squeegee it down firmly and try again. Once done, check the graphic for any remaining bubbles. If there are any left, gently squeegee over or use a pin to let the air or water out.

Wow ! Does it look good ! Finish off the installation by trimming back the graphic from edges, if any, by at least 5 MM. Clean out the surface with a clean lint free cloth.

There you go ! A clean professional installation !!

As we mentionned before the process is really easy. You can do it yourself no doubt ... and avoid the installation cost. Need more information on custom car graphic kits ? Click here.
