How to install a custom car seat cover
Installing a custom car seat cover is really a snap. No muss, no fuss, no ............. headaches !! And if you also
need to cover your head rest it is as easy ! Let's look at the step-by-step process.
¤ The first step in installing a custom cover is to remove guards or shields covering the seat. You may also have
to remove other items which are preventing the cover from sticking to the seat (seat belt guide, handle, etc.)
¤ The custom car seat cover will come with strings, unattached yet .Tie three of them to the loops on the bottom seat cover flap. Place the
bottom seat cover on the seat. Make sure the seams in the cover are aligned with the edge of the seat.
¤ Now we can attach the flap and the strings from the top to bottom of the seat. Make sure to pull the strings tightly
enough. One neat tip here : take a string through a loop twice, pull it thight, then make a cinch knot.
¤ Now to the strings already attached to the custom seat cover : bring both sides around to the back and tie them off tightly.
¤ Time to place back the guards and shields. Then remove the headrests, if any.
¤ Tie up three strings to the top of the custom seat cover and pull it down tight over the seat. The next step is to fold and tuck the edges.
Then feed three strings and the material through the top and bottom of the seat. Then, pull each string tightly and attach them to the loop
underneath the material.
¤ Find the base of the headrest under the custom car seat cover and cut a small opening above. Push the base through the opening. The cover
must be entirely beneath the base. Replace the head rests.
There you go !! Easy, isn't ?? No need to pay for the installation when you can do it yourself.
One last comment. A custom car seat cover is made to fit tightly. The friction between the fabric of the seat
and the cover may create a fair bit of resistance upon pulling the cover. To install the seat cover as tight
as possible and to facilitate the pulling put a plastic sheet on the seat, then pull the cover over. Before
you are ready to tie up the last strings pull the plastic sheet out.
