Is a truck floor mat the best way to protect your carpeting ?

A set of seat cargo liners is a great alternative, to a truck floor mat. If you are often times in and out of your truck and if you drive in dirty or snowy conditions you may need better protection.

A good floor mat will offer adequate protection but it may have limits in containing the ravages of nature. Liners are made of pliable rubberized thermoplastic. They will resist several elements such as mud, slush and battery acid. Because of their robust construction they will last much longer than a rubber mat.

You may think that a deep rubber truck floor mat may hold a lot sand, water, mud and slush. In fact, a good quality seat cargo liner will have a deep-dish design capable of holding much more than the good hold mat. The liners will also cover 100 % of the bottom floor carpeting, as well as part of the sides of the seat cargo, which is definitely not the case with rubber mats.

Liners have an additional advantage over the standard rubber mat, in that they usually come with anchors allowing a firm hold in place, which a common disadvantage of the mats.

Seat cargo liners are gaining in popularity over the standard rubber mat because they combine the looks of the floor carpeting with the enhanced protection. Most of them can be custom-molded and can be made with a color-matched, scotchguarded carpet surface.
